Staff meeting with Liz Fitzsimons to explain the concept and look at
some of the alternatives. A platform will be chosen after further research and
discussions at Learning@School. UPDATE: Staff who attended the conference have been setup with a Spike@School account. We are using this as our reflective journal of ICT learning while we assess the Spike@School product.
At our latest leadership meeting we decided to introduce Spike@School ePortfolios for all staff, beginning at the start of term 2. Staff will use their personal ePortfolio as a reflective journal of their ICT learning and as evidence for their teacher appraisal. We are scheduling a set time each week where every teacher will be required to make an entry in their ePortfolio. Staff will also be encouraged to explore the Spike@School system, to assess its suitability for our students.

Powerpoint
Discussed in staff meeting. It was decided to use PowerPoint as a starting point as this is a programme that the staff have used before and are comfortable with. (Broadband coverage does not allow more than 2-3 people on internet at a time as it slows down considerably). Liz had a session with each staff member explaining and setting up templates. Next staff meeting will discuss expectations of what will go in portfolios eg Literacy and Nump - which are our school wide focuses for this year. Each class has a class blog which they will link to their e-portfolios to show examples of learning. ICT will be given a regular slot in staff meetings to share successes/challenges and guidance.
We have used Spike@School to run our school website since 2009, so this is a logical place for us to dip our toe in the water, with a reasonably familiar package. At a recent staff meeting the platform was demonstrated to staff and the inital eportfolio for each teacher set up. Included was a blog on the year to be added to as we go. PURPOSE: become familiar with the conspet as the year develops. Our ICT LEad Teacher Jonette has been working with teachers to support and encourage in the addition of posts to the eportfolio record.

KNet
Decision made to use KnowledgeNet Learning Journals
All teacher users set up (as 'student' accounts) and learning journal exists.
Lead teachers have trialled entries and peer comments.
Week 5: Introduction to Learning Journals with all staff by lead teacher. General acceptance of the concept. Enjoyed inviting peers to comment. Need to continue to encourage regular entries. Leah, Greg, Robyn and Dennis all have 'teacher' rights to the journal and can see entries and make comments as appropriate.
The Ministry of Education website has published this document to give some guidelines to ePortfolios.
